Working from direct experience with objects and landscapes, Newt Lynn, photographer and Kevin Kennedy, sculptor, present two bodies of work in the front gallery of the Art Hive that join through a common narrative—creating an emotional connection between the observer and the observed. 

Kevin Kennedy, the annual Art Hive visiting artist from Vermont, employs the sculptural form as a language to explore ideas relating to balance, containment, movement and immobility. “Artists of true power find ways to speak through a common narrative. They start from a place they know, and work into a place that is known by all,” stated Kennedy. Kevin Kennedy's work can be found at https://kevinkennedy59.wixsite.com/artworks. 

Newt Lynn's landscape photography focuses on specific moments in place and time, creating empathy and a place-based emotional connection with the viewer. Lynn's work can be found in Studio 2 at the Art Hive. In addition to the featured exhibit, the 30+ resident artist studios will be open during the event. 

Engage with the open possibilities that come with taking the long
way home by temporarily inhabiting an exhibit of Open Spaces. The exhibit fills the Art Hive front gallery from July 24 to August 23, with the opening reception Friday, July 24 from 5 to 8pm.
