This Saturday, our spIN Focus event dives into the dazzling and theatrical world of Chappell Roan, featuring her debut studio album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. This record is a vibrant, deeply honest exploration of queer joy, self-discovery, and glittery pop anthems.
It's easy to imagine that Chappell Roan emerged fully formed as a beehive-wearing queer icon, but Kayleigh Rose Amstutz was plucked from YouTube—via Missouri—at 17, then signed and dropped by a major label in the space of a year. She just needed the right moment: this record is that moment. Released in 2023, the album quickly became a cultural phenomenon, celebrated for its exaggerated sound and playful, yet poignant, storytelling. From the synth-heavy empowerment of "Pink Pony Club" to the catchy melancholy of "Red Wine Supernova," this LP is a maximalist pop statement. .
Join us at The Listyning Room to experience this phenomenal album in its entirety on our world-class hifi featuring high-end equipment by Audio Note, Klipsch, and Cambridge Audio.
spIN Focus is not an extended presentation. We begin with a brief introduction and then play through of the full album. Doors open at 6:30pm.
