- **Event Description**: Join Bob Barnes for Dead Rekordings at The Listyning Room for the 49th anniversary of the May 8th show, a fan favorite, and widely considered to be one of the band's best performances ever.  Recorded on May 8, 1977, at Barton Hall, Cornell University, in Ithaca, New York. In 2011, the recording was included in the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress.

Recorded live directly from the soundboards by Betty Cantor-Jackson, the  tapes were seemingly lost for good, but that all changed at the end of 2016. The lost tapes, or lost “Betty boards” as they are commonly known, finally made their way back home to the Grateful Dead vault, making it possible to officially bring the world this legendary show. The complete live show was transferred with the Plangent Processes and remastered by GRAMMY ® award winning sound engineer, Jeffrey Norman.

Bob will guide us through this monumental recording, allowing you to appreciate the unparalleled musicianship and high-fidelity sound of these treasured archive on HDCD.  All of this great music will be played on The Listyning Room's world-class stereo system featuring high-end equipment by Audio Note, Klipsch and Cambridge Audio.

Your $20 Donation supports Center For Recorded Music 501(c)(3) and includes admission, complimentary snacks and beverages including soft drinks, flavored waters, and up to 3 complimentary adult beverages from a great selection of beer, wine, mixed drinks, and NA versions of your favorites. 

Seating at The Listyning Room is on a first-come first-seated basis.  Donate in advance to secure a spot for these exclusive events. If any spots are left open, donations will be accepted at the door.

The Listyning Room is located in the nbkc building at 3510 W. 95th Street, Leawood, KS 66206.  This is the north side of Ranch Mart, and there is plenty of parking for everyone next to the building.
