Masters of Plaster: Intuitive Plaster Carving with Rosco Ford

This one-day, hands-on workshop is perfect for anyone new to sculpture. You’ll learn some basic design ideas while experimenting with materials in a fun and creative way. Each participant will carve into a block of plaster shaped like a milk jug, with hidden air pockets inside made by balloons. As you carve, you’ll discover unexpected shapes and textures, and you’ll be encouraged to explore and respond to these surprises as you go—no experience needed!


Instructor Bio: Rosco received his BFA from the University of Akron in Ohio, and his MA and MFA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, both with a concentration in sculpture. He currently holds a preparator position at the Chazen Museum of Art in Madison, where he handles and hangs artworks from both traveling and permanent collections shown at the museum.
