Imagine the Village of Fort de Chartres, in ‘Le Pays du Illinois’ (The Land of Illinois) 1750 - 1790, a bustling community of shops and craftspeople, friends, and family. Stroll down the main street and surrounding area and visit merchants and blanket traders selling their wares. Visit the billiard hall and play a game or two. Buy a gun raffle ticket. Check out the shooting competition, run members of the American Long Rifle Association. Watch the stickball game inside the fort walls on Saturday afternoon. Visit the bread oven, and see what's cooking in the camp kitchen.
All this will be happening at the Fort de Chartres Colonial Market Faire, Saturday and Sunday, April 11th and 12th, and you can be part of it! The schedule of events is below.
Saturday, April 11th
10:00 - 5:00 Merchants and blanket traders open, and games in the Billiard Hall
10:00 - 3:00 Shooting Competition - Firing range
1:00 Stickball Game - inside the fort walls
Ongoing Saturday:
Cooking demonstration in the camp kitchen behind the barracks.
Baking demonstration at the bread oven.
Sunday, April 12th
10:00 - 3:00 Merchants and blanket traders open, and games in the Billiard Hall
10:00- 12:00 Schuetzen Challenge - shooting competition - firing range.
