- **Event Description**: The refuge is seeking volunteers to capture, tag, and release monarch butterflies during their peak migration in central Iowa. 

The tagging process enables researchers to monitor migration patterns and enhances conservation initiatives for the declining monarch population. The eastern population of monarch migrate to spend the winter in Mexico.

Participants are invited to observe the autumn prairie while actively supporting monarch conservation. Pre-registration is required due to limited space.
