- **Event Description**: Enjoy the beauty of autumn while learning the art of seed collecting on a guided prairie hike at Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge. This  event is co-hosted by the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden and refuge staff. Learn to identify native plants and discover proper techniques for collecting and utilizing seeds for future planting.

Volunteers will collect native seeds, learn about processing them, and event take some home! Volunteers will need to fill out a volunteer form at the event. Volunteers under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign the volunteer form. 

Contact nancy_corona@fws.gov if you need the volunteer formed emailed to you. Please wear pants, a long-sleeved shirt, sturdy-closed shoes, and bring a refillable water bottle.
