Skupina The Dwarfs of East Agouza se zformovala v egyptské Káhiře a tvoří ji Američan Alan Bishop (Sun City Girls, The Invisible Hands, Alvarius B.), Egypťan Maurice Louca (Alif, Bikya) a Kanaďan Sam Shalabi (Land of Kush, Shalabi Effect). Jejich jedinečný, na první poslech rozpoznatelný zvuk, je fúzí krautrocku, arabských vlivů, free jazzu a egyptské hudby Shaabi.

Trio vzniklo v roce 2012, kdy všichni tři členové bydleli ve stejném činžovním domě v káhirské čtvrti Agouza. Jejich instrumentální improvizace jsou poháněny Loucovými severoafrickými perkusivními smyčkami a vibrujícími klávesami, Shalabiho západoafricky zabarvenou freejazzovou kytarou a Bishopovou dravou baskytarou v krautrockovém stylu. Trio s úspěchem koncertovalo na významných festivalech jako je např. Unsound Festival a Roskilde Festival. Skupina vydala 6 autorských alb: Bes (2016), Both Sides Of The Curtain (Live In Beirut) (2017), Rats Don’t Eat Synthesizers (2018), The Green Dogs of Dashur (2020), High Tide In The Lowlands (2023) a Sasquatch Landslide (2025), kterou představí na pražském koncertě.

The Dwarfs of East Agouza trio was formed in Cairo, Egypt, and consists of Alan Bishop from United States (Sun City Girls, The Invisible Hands, Alvarius B.), Maurice Louca from Egypt (Alif, Bikya) and Sam Shalabi from Canada (Land of Kush, Shalabi Effect) and. The band has developed a unique, always-recognisable sound, shapeshifting from free jazz and krautrock to Arabic influences and Egyptian Shaabi music.
