Maria Bertel is a Danish trombonist, improviser, and composer. The amplified acoustic sound of her instrument creates a flow of energy that undeniably draws inspiration from concepts such as drone and noise. During her intense concerts, organic patterns emerge, subtle sounds become clear, as does the range of the instrument's overtones. A member of various ensembles including Fire! Orchestra, four-piece rock band Selvhenter, neo folk troupe Solhorn and the Vladislav Delay Quintet, Danish trombone player, composer and improviser Maria Bertel has made a career out of subverting expectations. As a soloist, she zones in on sounds that might usually be unheard; on 2024's 'Monophonic', for example, she magnifies seemingly incidental metal and breath sounds, drawing inspiration from noise music to stretch the limitations of her instrument.

HANOUSEK-PÁCHOVÁ-TOMÁNEK
An improvisational trio, put together especially for the September SKRONK', consists of saxophonist Radim Hanousek, vocalist Lucie Páchová, and drummer Filip Tománek.

Radim Hanousek focuses on various forms of improvisation, intermediality, and projects on the border of jazz and contemporary classical music, both as a performer (saxophonist) and composer. He co-founded the Norwegian-Czech jazz quartet NOCZ (Didrik Ingvaldsen, Dag Magnus Narvesen, Marian Friedl). Since 2013, Hanousek has been running his own project combining jazz and contemporary music, Dust in the Groove. As an improviser, in addition to leading figures of the Czech scene, he also collaborates with many artists from Switzerland, the US, Norway, Germany, Portugal, France, Austria, and Italy (Roland Dahinden, Didrik Ingvaldsen, Hildegard Kleeb, Ayako Kato, Claudia Cervenca, Samuel Dühsler, Yoram Rosilio, Michael Fischer, Iva Bittová, Dag Magnus Narvesen, Rieko Okuda, Tobias Delius, George Cremaschi, Hernâni Faustino, ...). Occasionally, Hanousek performs with the Vienna Improvisers Orchestra. He co-organizes FreeForms – the international meeting of improvisers.

Lucie Páchová is a sound artist, composer, performer, and improviser. In her multimedia projects, she combines vocal techniques, performance, composition, dance, and field recordings. She studied multimedia composition at JAMU and Indian music at the Codarts Academy in Rotterdam. She is the leader of the group Talaqpo, and also performs with projects such as Paliome and Arará.

Filip Tománek is a Czech multi-genre drummer and percussionist. He studied classical music at the Pardubice Conservatory, jazz interpretation at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory, and at the jazz department of HAMU in Prague. He collaborates with the PMP Ensemble under the direction of Roland Dahinden (performing works by Anthony Braxton and Roscoe Mitchell), with composer Andrew Harlan, clarinetist Oran Etkin, and choreographer Daniel Gulko.
