? Slavnostní premiéra nového dokumentárního filmu organizace Gulag.cz proběhne ? 24. 4. 2025 v 18:00 v Kině Aero v Praze spolu s besedou s tvůrci.

⫸ Hrůzy minulosti, zmařené životy, pozůstatky uranových dolů a pracovních táborů. Zapomenutou historii v Kyrgyzstánu pomalu odnáší čas a jejímu poznání stále více brání sílící vliv Ruska. Mezi oběťmi sovětských represí zde byla i řada obyvatel Československa.

⫸ Na jaře 1925 se stovky Čechoslováků vydaly tisíce kilometrů do dalekých stepí v podhůří Ťan Šanu. V zaostalém koutě sovětské říše vybudovali prosperující komunitu. Jejich úspěch byl však krutě vykoupen nemocemi, úmrtími i sílícím stalinským terorem.

⫸ Na místa této pohnuté minulosti vyrazila expedice organizace Gulag.cz v srpnu 2024 u příležitosti blížícího se 100. výročí založení družstva „Interhelpo“ našimi krajany v Kyrgyzstánu. Právě díky této výpravě se podařilo dohledat jména více než padesáti Čechů a Slováků, kteří se stali obětmi sovětských represí. Přes dvě desítky z nich byly za Stalina na místě popraveny.

⫸ Výsledkem je dokumentární snímek mapující pátrání po stopách teroru, setkání a rozhovory s potomky Čechů, pamětníky i místními odborníky v kulisách kyrgyzských měst a exotické krajiny.

⫸ Kde zemřeli naši krajané? Co skrývají kyrgyzské archivy a jaká je místní paměť na sovětský teror? V temné minulosti Sovětského svazu je stále mnoho otázek, na které je třeba hledat odpovědi, a spousta zmařených životů, na něž bychom neměli zapomínat.

? An expedition to discover the fate of Czechoslovaks in Soviet Kyrgyzstan

? The official premiere of the new documentary film by the Gulag.cz organization will take place on ? 24 April 2025 at 18:00 in the Aero Cinema in Prague, together with a discussion with the filmmakers.

⫸ Horrors of the past, wasted lives, and remnants of uranium mines and labour camps.  Time is slowly washing away the forgotten history in Kyrgyzstan, and the growing influence of Russia hinders efforts at studying it. There were many citizens of Czechoslovakia amongst the victims of Soviet repressions.

⫸ In the spring of 1925, hundreds of Czechoslovaks embarked on a journey of thousands of kilometres to the distant steppes in the Tian Shan promontory. They built a prosperous community in an undeveloped corner of the Soviet empire. They paid a steep price for their success, however, falling prey to diseases, death, and mounting Stalin terror.

⫸ A Gulag.cz expedition set out for this region with tumultuous history in August 2024 on the occasion of the approaching 100th anniversary of the Interhelpo cooperative that our fellow countrymen founded in Kyrgyzstan. The names of more than 50 Czechs and Slovaks who fell victims to Soviet repressions have been documented as a result of the expedition. More than two dozen of them were executed instantly during the Stalin era.

⫸ The result of the expedition is a documentary that maps the search for traces of terror as well as encounters and conversations with the Czechs’ descendants, witnesses, and local experts on the backdrop of Kyrgyz towns and exotic landscape.

⫸ Where did our compatriots die? What can be found in Kyrgyz archives, and what is the local memory of the Soviet terror? The dark past of the Soviet Union still holds many questions to which we should seek answers and multitudes of wasted lives we should never forget.
