WORKSHOP with Elia Moretti // Listening as Agency
movement, body and the performativity of sound
P I E · Performative Impro Encounters
_____________________________________________________________
⭐We invite you to join the forth workshop organised around P.I.E. (Performative Impro Encounters).
This time with the great improviser Elia Moretti.
Besides our monthly Instant Composition evenings in Punctum, we want to encourage everyone to dive in the world of performing improvisation.
Feel welcomed to this series of workshops led by inspiring international improvisers.
Description:
"This workshop explores listening as a transformative, performative practice. Moving beyond sound as background or accompaniment, we will investigate how listening can shape presence, behaviour, relationships and composition in dance and performance. Through a combination of guided listening, somatic research and collective improvisation, participants will explore sound as a choreographic force and the act of listening as an embodied, creative and expressive gesture.
The workshop begins with theoretical and auditory stimuli to open a dialogue about the social, cultural, physical, and poetic implications of sound in a performance space. The practical section then focuses on individual and group exercises that explore the relationship between sound, space, and the body. The workshop cultivates awareness of the performative environment, developing the capacity to convert listening into action, decisions and compositions. Participants are encouraged to contribute both critically and collaboratively, creating a shared space for experimentation and reflection."
About Elia:
Elia Moretti (1986, Milan) is a percussionist, composer, performer and researcher who explores sound and listening as critical tools within performance art. Working across disciplines, he creates site-specific and participatory projects that connect the body, sound, movement and objects. Elia lives in Prague, where, alongside performing, he co-curates the Earday series. His work spans radio, theatre and dance, and he teaches a course called "The Philosophy of Listening: Embodiment, Ecology, Politics and Transformation" (FFUK).
Elia is one of the founders of the performance group Ferst Dadler, which was awarded the Prix Italia this year.
