- **Event Description**: Why me?  This is a question Paige Wood has struggled and juggled in her heart a lot.  There are low times when Paige has hit her lows and she would ask why God couldn't have just taken her that day.  For her those times were her lowest of low, and she felt God taking her would have been easier then the fight, pain, and struggles she faced every minute of everyday.
It wasn't her time, and the why is starting to maybe come to her.  So many teens, kids, young adults face life changing events daily.  There is no help, no guidance and no roadmap to navigate these events, for the victims or their families.
Paige has become a voice in her recovery, and voice of courage, and a voice of what it is like to experience hard times, that knock you down to the lowest of low she/we didn't know existed.
Paige knows her purpose in this, it is to help others struggling, to help others over hurdles, hard times, with her compassion, understanding, and sharing her story.
Paige's 17th birthday is coming up February 26th.  I have been on her about what she wanted....material.  Paige let me know what her birthday wish was, and I am helping grant it.  And it is far from anything I could get her at a store.
Paige is wanting to help others, speak to others, speak to many about not giving up, and how she has picked herself up.  She needs some practice, patience, and people to come listen, to give input and to help her reach this goal, and to help her help others.
We invite you February 26th (Paige's birthday) at 6:00pm to join her at the Powell Butte Community Center - who has graciously donated this evening to Paige.  8404 SW Reif Road, Powell Butte.
Paige knows her purpose, it is not to hide her wounds, it is not to mourn herself, it is to share with others the struggles she had, has, and faces, and how she picked herself back up, and is living daily to make herself and others better.  Paige was at a high time in her life in high school, placing in track both at districts and state levels, high point in swimming, and a force on the volleyball court.  All of that changed in a split second, August 10th, and her world as she knew it took turn that none of us ever could have imagined.  But here she is, fighting through it with grace, strength, a winning attitude, and love for herself!  A community near and far who supported her, doctors, nurses, rescue crews, police officers, school administrators, who all made her feel safe, loved, and motivated in her recovery.
Paige has another surgery coming up in April, and we meet this week about getting a screw out of her leg that is bothering her knee brace.  She gets scared, but has faith in her corner!  She still has a long road ahead, but she faces every bump, turn and disappointment with the attitude of I will get my life back, I will do what I loved, and no one can tell me I can't, because they aren't me.
Praying for a good night for Paige to do what she is meant to do through this!
