Schedule: 9:00 AM sign in - 9:30ish to noon – Writing workshop with Herb Childress Lunch Break – BYO, Light snacks and beverages will be provided. 1:00 to 3:30ish – Poetry workshop with Bianca Amira Zanella: The Art of Feng Shui: Rearranging Your Poem Workshop Description: Transform your poem into a sanctuary with Feng Shui, an ancient Chinese practice; the goal is to enhance the flow of energy, or “Chi”, so that your poem welcomes the reader in, welcomes you home. Experiment with different arrangements, listen to your intuition, and make adjustments based on the energy you feel in each space, each line, each stanza. The art of Feng Shui is a personal and intuitive practice – same goes for poetry. We’ll explore the living room of Mia S. Willis, the bedroom of Megan Fernandes, and the kitchen of Franny Choi. By incorporating the principles of Feng Shui into your home poem, in this workshop, you will create a language landscape that fosters positive energy and supports your physical, emotional, and spiritual health… or, you’ll feel refreshed moving words around the page just like you would after rearranging your furniture (sweat not guaranteed). *Poetry expertise not expected nor required. For this workshop (optional) send in one page of text by August 10th (can be original, poetry, prose, etc. or something you admire) but no more than one page, one-sided.
