Jessica Batten graduated cum Laude from SUNY Purchase, Conservatory of Dance, with a BFA and has danced professionally with: Cedar Lake II, Ballet Hispánico of New York, Nimbus Dance, Connecticut Ballet, Bradley Shelver Contemporary Dance Theater, Earl Mosely’s Diversity of Dance, Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, & with The Metropolitan Opera Ballet; amongst other companies and choreographers. Additionally, Ms. Batten has performed with the Kirov Ballet at the Metropolitan Opera House in NYC, was invited to perform in Cali, Colombia in the Fifth Annual International Dance Festival 2011 and was an invited artist for the Cape Dance Festival in 2014. In addition to her performance career, she has traveled the world teaching, coaching and choreographing- while also having appeared in film and television. In 2008, she appeared on the AMICI Television Show in Rome, Italy, dancing as a Guest Profesionista on the full series and has appeared in several more film and TV credits, such as Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Ms. Batten has served on the teaching faculty at The Joffrey Ballet School, Saratoga Springs Youth Ballet, Ballet Hispánico, Nimbus Dance, New Jersey Dance Theatre Ensemble, and summer programs at Amherst College. From 2016–2025, she lived and worked at The Putney School, where she was the Director of Dance and Performing Arts Coordinator. In addition to her leadership roles, she was a dedicated dorm parent, advisor, and mentor to students. During her tenure, Ms. Batten significantly expanded the Putney Dance Program, overseeing all aspects of its development. She taught technique and academic arts courses, choreographed original works, and brought in guest artists to enrich and diversify the program. Ms. Batten is an arts advocate and educator who is passionate about working with creative, driven young people. She also values ongoing collaboration with adult artists, fostering meaningful connections within the arts community.
