PPL is proud to present guitarist Paul Meyers and Cameroon singer/guitarist Benjamin Mambou for an afternoon of solo pieces and duets.
The performance will incorporate, jazz rhythms, African rhythms, Brazilian rhythms and more. Meyers and Mambou bring their two world of music together to also create something totally new. Don't miss this beautiful musical opportunity.
Paul Meyers has been a busy freelancer, sideman and bandleader in and around New York City since 1980. He has performed and/or recorded with a list of jazz greats such as Geri Allen, Harry Allen, Kenny Barron, Ron Carter, Ray Drummond, Eliane Elias, Clare Fischer, Sonny Fortune, Eddie Gomez, Annie Ross, Wynton Marsalis, Bill Mays, Rufus Reid and Steve Wilson.
He has been touted as “one of the most eloquent jazz guitarists since Kenny Burrell” by James Gavin of the New York Times, and has been called “. . . [A] guitarist’s guitarist. [A] brilliant soloist and accompanist and excels in contemporary jazz.” by solo jazz guitar master Gene Bertoncini.
Hailing from Cameroon, Benjamin MAMBOU is a dynamic jazz musician, composer, and vocalist. Leading the acclaimed jazz band ANGWA, his debut album Finally Free ranked among the top 100 jazz albums of 2022. Benjamin has collaborated with Grammy winners Arturo O'Farrill and Wynton Marsalis in Musicians for Justice and performed at top U.S. venues like Rockwood Music Hall. Recently, he delivered a powerful set at the Potsdam Juneteenth Festival, where his performance was a standout moment, drawing a captivated audience and receiving high praise.
Passionate about music education, he attended NAMM Show 2025, working with the O Guitar family from Argentina. His latest single, Born To Shine, continues his mission of spreading love and unity through music. He is now gearing up for his debut solo album release this year.
Beyond music, Benjamin is also making waves in fashion with his brand OSSU Wear, featuring original, sustainable, and unique designs that he creates and prints in Cameroon. The brand gained significant attention at the Juneteenth Festival, further solidifying his artistic influence.
This is another free PPL concert through donations are accepted for the performers.
