These sessions are designed to use fun activites to learn new marine ID skills (perfect for preparing for our summer intertidal volunteering opportunities), rather than collecting data. These are perfect for both regular volunteers who want to keep involved over winter or members of the public who want to learn more about the amazing marine life existing on their local shores.Please note this event will be weather dependent. We will go ahead in light rain, but may cancel the event if it is heavy wind and rain. We will let you know if the event is cancelled as soon as possible but make sure check your emails before leaving on the day.This event forms part of the Solent Seascape Project, an innovative marine project supported by the Endangered Landscapes and Seascapes Programme and Easthead Impact. The project is about restoring four of the Solent’s most important habitats: seagrass meadows, native oyster reefs, saltmarsh and seabird nesting habitats.You don’t need any special knowledge or experience to take part in our intertidal surveys, but you must be either over 18 or over 16 and accompanied by a participating parent or guardian. Dogs are not allowed on the survey.You will be emailed a volunteer registration form and reminder email before the event. Please ensure you fill this form in and send back to us before the survey if you haven't registered with us before.Any questions please get in touch: marine@hiwwt.org.uk before the survey.WHAT TO BRING- Warm, weatherproof clothing and a hat as many survey areas are exposed and it will be colder than you might expect.- Sturdy (ideally waterproof) footwear with good ankle support.- Washing up gloves, for keeping your hands warm when rummaging in rockpools.
