Citizen Information Meeting

Come see preliminary improvement options designed to address safety and congestion along the Route 164 (Western Freeway) corridor from Towne Point Road to the West Norfolk Bridge in  Portsmouth. A previous public survey provided community input to help identify key concerns including congestion, sudden stopping, weaving, and merging difficulties. The feedback has been used to develop potential improvement alternatives. These options are being presented for public review and input as part of the next phase of community engagement.

Find out about the potential improvements and provide your feedback on the alternatives being considered at each of the following interchanges: Towne Point Road, Cedar Lane, Virginia International Gateway, and West Norfolk Road. The meeting will be held in an open-house format with no formal presentation given. VDOT representatives will be present to discuss the potential improvements and answer questions about the study.

Give your written or oral comments at the meeting or submit them by November 15, 2025 to Mrs. Mitzi Crystal, PTP, Project Manager, Virginia Department of Transportation, 7511 Burbage Drive, Suffolk, VA 23435.
