“Imagination is more important than knowledge.” -Albert Einstein
Einstein was right, and never more so than now.
The Imaginarium is a pure and magical program that illuminates and explodes children’s imaginations. It’s a story time like no other. That’s because the children create the character, and the world in which that character lives. The children decide what powers they will have, what the character wants and what motivates them, as well as if they are “good” or “bad”.
All of this is done collaboratively and cooperatively with the entire audience, guided by questions asked by Susie Maguire who has delivered this program for 20 years, both live and online. Once the character and their world have been brought to life, Susie weaves an entirely improvised story, right there in the room, with the children controlling all of the action.
Susie describes the process: "The Imaginarium involves THE GREATEST STORYBOOK IN THE UNIVERSE … which is to say … a giant notebook full of blank pages 😁 . During the first half hour, I ask the children lots and lots of questions, and from their answers, I draw a picture as question by question, a character and the world they live in come vividly to life. In the second half hour, we co-create a story. Improv magic that produces a story that has never been told before, about a character that has never existed before, with the children having the power to direct the story in any way they want. It’s a story time where the kids create and control everything. Pure magic. At the start of the hour, we have a blank piece of paper … by the end we’ll have brought a character to life, built a world and had an epic adventure… and the children have learned that they are the most powerful of creators! I also draw the character on my iPad so I can instantly send a digital copy
that can be shared with the children so they never forget what they created! The children are often inspired to start creating their own characters and stories and we highly recommend making sure they have access to some blank notebooks that can serve as their very own 'Greatest Storybook in the Universe'".
Join us as kids create their own magic!
