Step into 1781. A Post Such As Portsmouth returns to Olde Towne for a two-day immersive reenactment commemorating the British occupation of Portsmouth during the Revolutionary War, led by the infamous Benedict Arnold.
Throughout the weekend, the streets will be alive with military encampments, historical interpreters, dramatic vignettes, lectures, music, dance, children’s games and interactive demonstrations. Watch history unfold with the arrest of a spy, court-martial proceedings, Benedict Arnold’s address to civilians, and the march on High Street.
NEW this year: 18th-century sword fighting and European-style martial arts demonstrations at the Corner of High St./Court St.
Explore Portsmouth’s wartime history through engaging, educational experiences designed for all ages. Dress in period costume and join in – or simply enjoy the spectacle.
Plus, make a full day of it! The event coincides with the Olde Towne Farmers Market, Classic Car Show, Art Market and Antique & Flea Market.
