CONTACT IMPROVISATION: Patterns In Repeat
"Break the pattern", they say, "and you'll be free!"
And then we start moving chaotically, and chaos becomes our new pattern eventually...
But what if we viewed patterns as clues to our comfort zones: spaces we could widen rather than abandon? What if our patterns are actually useful material for sharpening attention and deepening playfulness? This approach emerges from acknowledging what's already present in the body, not from forcing it away.
This class invites you to recognize your movement strategies and welcome them as teachers, and as a rich source of creativity and inspiration. We'll work with inertia, pauses, and states of being rather than intentional doing.
The class will be followed by an explorative jam session.
Bring an extra pair of warm socks, changing clothes that cover your arms and legs, and your favourite snack to munch on afterwards.
THE FACILITATOR
Margo Doletska is a CI practitioner from Ukraine and an interdisciplinary explorer of embodiment through voice work, theatre, body-based practices, and Gestalt therapy. Her work is related to understanding the body and creating spaces for authentic expression and connection.
