His journey took him from performing in California’s folk scene to Portland, where he co-founded Artichoke Community Music, a nonprofit hub for music lovers and creators. He has released several acclaimed albums, led countless workshops, and continues to teach and perform throughout the community.Through it all, Richard remains devoted to one vision: building community through song and reminding us that music has the power to heal, connect, and transform.About John: has been playing guitar, writing songs, and composing instrumental music for over 50 years. He was an ATCO Records recording artist in the 80’s, a radio program director in the 90’s and 2000's, a Sirius/XM DJ also in the 2000’s, and today he's a frequent performer in clubs in Portland and on Cape Cod (his other home town). He’s been a guitar student of Tommy Emmanuel, Richard Thompson, and Pierre Bensusan and influences range from classical to folk to rock to jazz to pop. As a result, John's performances feature a wide range of styles—360 degrees of songwriting and guitar from Bach to Hendrix to flamenco.
