- **Event Description**: Join us for a 4-week journey of healing & creative self-expression as we "rewrite" the holidays through and community & writing.About this EventRewriting the Holidays: A 4 Week Grief & Writing Group to Get You Through the SeasonJoin us for a special 4-week group at Grounded Grief Therapy in Portland, OR from Monday, November 10th to Monday, December 1. This in-person group is designed to help us explore creative ways to cope with grief during the holiday season and provide a space where grief meets grit, heartbreak meets humor, and where sorrow is a doorway to creativity + connection. In this workshop, we’ll "rewrite" the holidays together. Through grief education, rituals, writing prompts, and shared reflection, we’ll explore how grief can coexist with love, humor, and meaning. The older we get and the more we love, the more grief we have to carry through this season. The more we’re meant to “gather with those we love”, the more we’re reminded of everything and everyone we have loved and lost. Many of us need both solitude and genuine community where we feel safe to be seen and silent, where there’s space for our souls’ aches to stretch out and breathe. This isn’t about “fixing” your grief — it’s about giving it sanctuary & space to be.Together, we’ll tend to the ache of the season by gathering in ritual, grief, and community.Learn to hold both joy and pain- without the pressure of “choosing” one.Leave with a new kind of belonging: to yourself, to your story, and to others walking this same path. What you’ll leave with:A softer relationship with the season & a renewed sense of agency over the holidays so they don’t just happen TO you anymore.Writing tools and reflections to help you name, release, and reshape your grief.Moments of laughter, tenderness, and surprising connection with others who get it.A small, safe community that welcomes your whole experience - the sacred, the silly, the sorrowful.Rituals and language to honor what’s been lost and what’s still becoming. What’s the investment?$45 per 75 minute session, or $180 for the 4 weeks. Two sliding scale spots are available - please email Katherine@groundedgrief.com to inquire.Payment due in full before the start of the first session.Where & when will this take place? At the offices of Grounded Grief at 328 NE Failing St, Portland, OR 97212Starting Monday, November 10th at 7 pm.Photos below are from a group earlier in 2025 facilitated by Grounded Grief!About the facilitator:Grief & Trauma TherapistJUNIPER WONG, MSW, LICSWThough I didn’t have a name for it, I have known grief in my bones since I was born. I’ve always been drawn to and seen the beauty in what others might consider the “darker” parts of life. I’m interested in knowing people in their totality - including rough edges, rawness, joy and strength. Learning to befriend & nurture my grief - rather than try to force it to “go away” or “let it go” has brought a sense of peace and wholeness to my life that I’m eager to share with others.I am a licensed clinical social worker and have been practicing for the past seven years. I started my career in social work as a clinician in community mental health, working with high risk crisis clients in Vancouver, Washington. After two years, I became a supervisor, guiding four wraparound teams in interventions to serve families and clients with compassion, out of the box thinking, and humor.Prior to social work, I taught high school English in the public school system in South Central Los Angeles for six years. I love and miss the energy of a classroom and am so excited to start building community through leading groups again! In my therapeutic work, I incorporate elements of creativity, self-compassion, mindfulness, somatic experiencing, and internal family systems. I am also a huge fan of exploring existential themes and spirituality, shadow work and the enneagram for clients who are interested in that side of the work.During my free time I love to practice my ukulele, write songs and creative nonfiction, act and storytell. I live with my husband, wildly fun toddler, and cat, Narwhal. https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events9/banners/c59cc160-b4cf-11f0-b88c-690d2d223182-rimg-w555-h740-dc130706-gmir.jpg https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events4/banners/c61b6740-b4cf-11f0-b88c-690d2d223182-rimg-w824-h740-dc1a1606-gmir.jpg https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events10/banners/c688a800-b4cf-11f0-948c-61a6097a2385-rimg-w555-h740-dcd7a293-gmir.jpg

"description": "Grounded Grief is a collective of humans who seek to address the immense gap in available and quality therapeutic support for those navigating grief. Grounded Grief supports people and groups grieving both death and non-death losses by providing individual psychotherapy, group therapy, community support options, grief training programming, and clinical supervision and support to the larger mental health community. Grounded Grief maintains a bi-coastal practice with primary service areas in the State of Oregon and the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.Grounded Grief believes that grief is not a mental health disorder. We believe that grief is a human biological experience that allows each of us to navigate what is unfixable, what is unfair, and what cannot be controlled in our lives. We believe that each human has the capacity to grieve and to build tolerance for grief through fostering a relationship with it. Grounded Grief believes that this relationship-building with grief is our individual path through life’s hardest experiences and our collective human path towards a more peaceful and just world."
