# Event Details - **Event Name**: One-day Wildflower Watercolour Workshop at Chesil - **Event Start and End Date**: Sun, 17 May, 2026 at 10:00 am – Sun, 17 May, 2026 at 04:00 pm (+01:00) - **Event Description**: Join this one-day Wildflower Watercolour Workshop when our wildflowers burst into bloom and the light and colour is perfect for painting.About this EventThis day workshop is designed to give a good start to people wanting to take up watercolour. Starting with good quality paints, brush and paper, (all supplied) gives you the best possible advantage and saves initial expense. A good brush and a palette containing paint are yours to take home at the end. Come and discover the charm and versatility of watercolour in a productive day at the Wild Chesil Centre. You may be surprised at what you can do.In May the sea pinks (or thrift) on Chesil Beach will be in full bloom and its the perfect time to capture the spectacle on canvas. There are also a wide variety of spring flowering plants around the centre itself including yellow rattle, herb robert, sea pea etc. You will be spending most of your time in the classroom but there will also be time outside on the Chesil and Fleet Nature Reserve looking for subjects to illustrate.The workshop will be led by Sally Pinhey, former Art Tutor at Kingston Maurward College, the Eden Project and The Springhead Trust, holder of numerous RHS Exhibition medals and a widely published illustrator. Sally has many years experience of leading art classes, and is reknowned for her patient, friendly approach to teaching. There will also be a short guided walk led by a Dorset Wildlife Trust Warden.During the workshop you will be spending some time outside on uneven ground so please wear walking boots, outdoor clothing and waterproofs if wet. There isn't a lot of walking involved but the terrain is uneven and on pebbles.Workshop cost: £95 per person which includes package of good quality paint, palette, brush and paper together with a folder of the day's programme, exercises etc. Children aged 8 and over are welcome to join the course but must be accompanied by a responsible adult.Time: 10am to 4pmTea, coffee and biscuits will be provided. You will need to bring your own packed lunch or you will be able to purchase something from the onsite cafe.There is a large pay and display car park on site. Participants will be entitled to a free parking permit for the duration of the course.
