The Sharing History through Active Reminiscence and Photo-imagery (SHARP) study for brain health and wellness was created by life-long Portlander Dr. Raina Croff (OHSU). SHARP engages older Black adults with and without memory loss in neighborhood walking with old photos to prompt conversational reminiscence about living and working in the Albina district before gentrification.Actors Karen Wells—an original SHARP walker, Shareen Jacobs, and RaChelle Schmidt bring SHARP participants’ stories to life, walking us into Albina’s past and into the present reality of older Black adults aging in place amidst rapid neighborhood change.After the performance, Dr. Croff and SHARP walkers engage the audience in a talk-back about healthy aging, memory loss, aging in place, and gentrification.  Directed by Raina Croff and Clarice Bailey and cohosted by PreSERVE Coalition for Black American Memory and Brain Health, we are pleased to bring this special experience to the Vanport Mosaic Festival. ---------------------------------------------------COME EARLIER TO SEE THE EXHIBITS ON DISPLAY!The Historic Alberta House will be open 4- 6 pm for gallery hours.Artwork by Henk Pander: "The Climate Refugees of Vanport"Originally from the Netherlands, Henk Pander was a child during WWII. Since immigrating to the PNW in 1965, he became one of the most renowned artists.
