LUSINE

From his early releases as Lusine onward, Jeff McIlwain’s electronic explorations make up one of the more diverse discographies of the past decade and a half. Seattle-based producer Jeff McIlwain, aka Lusine, returns with his 9th full-length record, Long Light, marking twenty years since he first joined the Ghostly International roster. A cited influence for myriad electronic artists including London’s Loraine James and others, Lusine is known for visceral, kinetically-curious music that fuses techno, pop, and experimental composition. In recent years, McIlwain has pushed his craft skyward with more collaborative, song-forward work. Long Light shines the throughline; his signature looping patterns and textures are dynamic yet minimalist as ever. Structurally straightforward, tight, and bright, the material radiates as the most direct in his catalog. McIlwain is currently set to release a new ambient album on Ghostly in the coming year, as well as scoring Michael Reisinger's debut feature length film, “Giant Void.”

SOMATOAST

Traversing a multi-instrumental voyage through wacky circus dance music, jazzy nuances, and left-field sound design, Mark Rubin has sculpted his own signature blend of sophisticated dub and downtempo as Somatoast. 

Mark began his journey through music as a young child on the drum set. Piano soon followed, then guitar, bass, and a full range of percussive instruments. By the time he was in high school, he was writing music on multiple instruments, producing his work as well as local bands. While studying digital media in college, Mark’s years of experimentation in the studio alchemized into fruition as Somatoast. The earliest performances of Somatoast could be found in Austin’s eclectic co-op parties and electronic music events. Somatoast became deeply inspired by Austin’s ever-evolving live music culture, circus performance artists, and the psychedelic renaissance he recognized was happening on a global scale.
