The daughter of a music teacher and a pastor, Ford grew up in Indiana immersed in music—learning piano and voice from her mother and participating in choirs, vocal contests, theatre, and praise bands. While attending Manchester University, Ford received scholarships for participating in university choirs, including an a cappella choir that performed pieces like Benjamin Britten's "Hymn to St. Cecilia" and Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody". In August 2013, Ford won the Stars in the Park talent contest in her hometown of Portland.
After years away from music, Ford returned in 2022, realizing it was an essential part of her identity. She now performs regularly in Jacksonville, Florida, both solo and with The Holly Ford Jazz Band. In 2025, she appeared on WJCT-FM, and in 2026 became a Sofar Sounds Artist and a featured performer on Sonic Scout Radio. She released her first single “City Couple” on Valentine's Day 2026.
After a songwriting breakthrough in 2025, Ford has written over 45 songs in under a year. Recording independently with Ryan Campbell—recording artist and owner of School of Rock Jacksonville—Ford writes her songs on the keys, and Campbell shapes and elevates them with guitar, bass, drums, and production.
Ford writes with relatable emotional honesty and soulful beauty, inspired by artists such as Sara Bareilles, Nina Simone, Norah Jones, and Amy Winehouse.
