We are in times of intense change - on an ecological, collective, and personal level. Grief & Ecstasy is a space where we can bring that heaviness and dance with it through ritual, movement, and community - as cultures around the world have for thousands of years. 

This is a ritual ecstatic dance where we potentiate the power of the dance by working with intention and the altar. The dance itself moves through stages of grief, releasing places where energy is stuck and  then unlocks joy and inspiration in celebration and ecstasy - leaving you feeling more open and in deeper acceptance. All of you is welcome here - your rage, your sorrow, your denial. We don’t talk it through - we move with it. We close with space for integration. 

This is a ritual journey so we will close the container to new arrivals at 7:15. It is recommended to dress for grief and ecstacy, light and dark - and  bring whatever objects, photos, etc. that represent your grief and your intention to put on the altar.

Alexandra Alden (Electric Indigo)
Alexandra, artist name Electric Indigo has been on the path of grief and art as alchemy her entire life. She has undergone deep personal initiation on the path of grief and loss and received the Grief Dance as an integration of her work across ceremonial spaces, ecstatic dances, and deep inner work. It is her offering to the collective to help better relate to the shadow and in doing so live with more full spectrum aliveness.

Alyssa Rose
Alyssa is a grief ritualist, coach, and educator in Portland, Oregon. Working with individuals as well as communities in honoring and tending grief and longing through times of uncertainty and change. Alyssa's work is deeply embodied and she offers somatic griefwork as a blend of massage therapy, craniosacral therapy, and energy work as well as somatic-based grief coaching in-person and online. She has always turned to dance as a way to grieve, love, move, and connect with her aliveness, and loves exploring creative ways to be with our grief in community.
