- **Event Description**: Golden Shoals knit together the worlds of traditional bluegrass and old time music..About this Event is a fiddle and guitar duo with a "rousing old-time-style music that’s fueled by acerbic modern-day wit” (-No Depression Magazine). They are no strangers to traditional music, having placed in contests including Clifftop (3rd place 2023, 4th place 2022), Mount Airy, The Grand Masters Fiddlers Championship and Galax. Often switching instruments between fiddle, two guitars, and banjo, their original songs have been compared to Gillian Welch, with the added edge of instrumental prowess informed by energetic old time and bluegrass recordings. What started as casual jam sessions ten years ago in Boston, Massachusetts has transitioned into the internationally acclaimed cross-country duo Golden Shoals. Their original songs are often compared to Gillian Welch, with the added edge of instrumental prowess informed by energetic old time and bluegrass recordings. It's music equally enjoyed by songsmiths and heady instrumental pickers alike. The listener can expect the polished technique of conservatory training, in tandem with the grit, drive, and soul of musicians like Roscoe Holcomb or Ola Belle Reed.FacebookInstagramMorgan Harris (she/her) is a Portland, OR-based guitarist specializing in traditional North American stringband (or ‘old time’) music. In contrast to the purely accompanying role the guitar often occupies in this space, Morgan’s distinctive playing technique allows the guitar to shine as an old time melody instrument, creating a rhythmic drive and a multi-layered resonance that is unique in the world of flatpicked guitar.Website: https://www.morganharrisguitar.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/morganharrisguitar/Bandcamp: https://morganharrisguitar.bandcamp.com/album/alone-will-tellYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/@morganharrisguitarhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PraaNao2Nf0https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dnksysbTrEohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-01YaxXdWE
