This hands-on workshop will be held on Sunday February 22, 2026, from 3:15-6:00 PM at Leikam Brewing Company's Community Room: 5812 E Burnside St, Portland, OR 97215.
Workshop will last approximately 2.5 hours, depending on your speed. Students will learn how to create a whimsical Gnome from stoneware clay. This is a skills-based class that is accessible by beginners, with great results. All required tools and clay will be supplied. Please wear comfortable clothing that is OK to get dirty, or wear a smock or apron. If you want a lot of color and surface decoration, please bring a hairdryer if possible. (I will bring one heat gun for the class to share.) Workshop is suitable for adults and teens age 13+.
We will work together, step-by-step, as you learn how to use the tools, and learn the skills to create your very own Gnome sculpture. Gnomes will then travel to my studio where I will dry slowly and then fire them in my ceramic kiln.
Gnomes will be available for additional painting and pick-up at Leikam Brewery on Sunday March 8, 2026. Please come at 4:00 PM if you want more color on your Gnome. All Gnomes made in the workshop will be on display to the public from 4:00-5:00 PM. You can take your Gnome home at 5:00 PM, in time for St Patrick's Day or your favorite early spring holiday.
Price includes 2 beer tickets. Substitutions available for abstainers, minors, and others who don't drink beer. A slight upcharge may be necessary for some cocktails.
