Body Temple Dance is a somatic and spiritual movement language that combines dance, therapeutic somatic movement, mystical teachings, energetic awareness, and modern trauma healing technology to support people in feeling their feelings, experiencing presence, exploring sensations in their bodies, and awakening to the inherent aliveness that comes with being human.

Each class is unique, and begins with a teaching on a theme & exploration through practices such as readings, writing prompts, energy awareness exercises, chanting, or meditation. We then begin to move to a specially curated playlist, intended to bring us further into the theme, and explore it through the language of our body and felt sensations. The movement portion is accessible and open to all bodies & levels of ability - no experience or skill in dance is necessary. Finally, we close with a group discussion to share how we are feeling & what we experienced during class.

The class will begin with a talk on the themes, followed by a guided meditation or similar practice, followed by about 20-25 minutes of active movement practice. After the active movement, we will end with some time for restoration and integration, including hands-on reiki healing for all who’d like to receive it.

All are welcome, no experience or skill in dance or movement necessary!

Body Temple Dance was created by my teacher Adriana Rizzolo, emerging from her many years of research & teaching in energy healing, nervous system & trauma healing, transformational work, yoga, poetry, and dance. www.bodytemple.church

Sarah Rayne (she/her) is a queer witch, a healing artist, and the people’s priestess. She holds potent, trauma-informed sacred space for groups & individuals, weaving together her 10 years of experience with reiki healing, tarot, herbalism, sound healing, astrology, and intuitive, nature-based magic. She shares original medicine songs & Body Temple Dance somatic practices to help folks remember that they are creative beings who can cultivate healing & catharsis through authentic self-expression. She is the founder of Firebird Healing Arts, and the co-founder of Glimmer Wellness Center in SE Portland, where she works and plays daily to build community and foster a culture of heart-centered healing & collective thriving.
