The five published authors on the panel will share their advice for aspiring authors, including valuable classes and volunteer experiences, insights into the publishing industry, and career suggestions for young people who love to write.Please consider making a $5 donation to pay our panelists for their time and expertise. .Browse the Authors' Books.About our PanelistsChelsea Biondollio (she/her) is the author of two prose chapbooks and one full length collection of creative nonfiction (essays). Her work has been published in literary magazines, online, and in a number of anthologies. She has a bachelors degree in fine art and a masters degree in creative writing and environmental studies. She has served as a volunteer reader and editor for literary magazines, a participant in selection committees for writing residencies, and she’s taught a course on applying for funding to support writing projects for over a decade. She’s also worked as a writing professor, technical writer, and in other professional roles that include a lot of writing.Tina Connolly (she/her) writes fantastical stories for kids, teens, and grown-ups. Some of them are serious and some of them involve flying bananas. Her books include the Ironskin trilogy (Tor), and the Seriously Wicked series (Tor Teen). Her interactive fiction projects include story games for a Pixelberry app, and the official Choose Your Own Adventure books Glitterpony Farm and Fairy House Disaster. She has been a finalist for the Hugo, Nebula, World Fantasy, and Oregon Spirit Book awards. She loves to teach and mentor, and has worked with Queer KidLit and the Oregon Writers Festival (where she was the middle school keynote speaker in 2024.) She lives with her family in Portland, where she narrates stories, paints tiny monsters, and makes up silly songs on the ukulele. Find her at tinaconnolly.com.Margaret Malone (she/her) is the host of Portland’s Movie Book Club, the literary radio show Bust the Canon on xray.fm, and author of the story collection People Like You, a Finalist for the PEN/Hemingway Award for First Fiction &amp; Winner of the Balcones Fiction Prize, and selected by Powell’s as one of the Northwest’s “25 Books to Read Before You Die." The recipient of grants, fellowships, and residencies from MacDowell, the Ucross Foundation, Ford Family Foundation, Sitka Center, Literary Arts and others, she's been working hard lately at being more flinty and unreasonable in her daily life.Jenn Reese (they/them) writes speculative fiction for readers of all ages. Jenn is the award-winning author of the middle grade novels Puzzleheart, Every Bird a Prince, A Game of Fox &amp; Squirrels, and the Above World trilogy, as well as the picture book Seven Ways Through the Woods. They also write short stories and essays. Jenn lives in Portland, Oregon where they make art, play video games, and talk to the birds.Evan Morgan Williams (he/him) is the recipient of a 2024 Oregon Literary Fellowship. He is the author of four collections of stories: Thorn (BkMk Press, 2014), Canyons (2018), Stories of the New West (Main Street Rag, 2021), and The Divide (Cornerstone Press, 2026). He has published over 75 stories in journals including Kenyon Review, Witness, Alaska Quarterly Review, and Zyzzyva. He holds an MFA from the University of Montana (1991). A member of the Deaf/HOH community, he is retired after 29 years of teaching in a public school.
