Come join us for a special beginner/intermediate west coast swing afternoon with international award-winning dance instructor Ari Levitt, followed by our Saturday night Roots Fusion dance with a west coast swing theme. Come and add some really effective technique to your fusion dancing!

When: Saturday afternoon and evening on December 6th, 2025
The What:
Workshops are at 430 35th St, Port Townsend, WA (detailed directions will go out the week before the workshops)
Evening dance is at Madrona MindBody Institute in Port Townsend, Building 310 at Fort Worden State Park.
12:00-2:00 PM Beginner WCS Intensive with a focus on the fundamental patterns and techniques you need to become a "Westie" by Saturday night! (Level 1-2, no prior west coast swing experience needed, but some dance experience in any style may be helpful)
2:30-4:30 PM Intermediate WCS Intensive picks up where the Beginner Intensive leaves off, with more advanced 6 and 8-count patterns, passes, syncopations, and WCS styling. (Level 2-3, with a prerequisite: EITHER the Beginner WCS Intensive OR a thorough understanding of the WCS sugar push, left and right side passes, basic 8-count whip, compression and elasticity, and how to anchor). If you take the beginner intensive you should be fine for the intermediate class, especially if you have some partner dance experience in another style like lindy, east coast swing, tango, ballroom, blues, zouk, modern, etc.
7:00-9:30 PM at Madrona MindBody in Port Townsend: Come and dance together to the best of contemporary west coast swing and fusion!
How Much:
Advance purchase $35 for either workshop, $60 for both. Includes admission to the dance. Day of registration is $70 until space fills. About Ari Levitt: Ari has been partnering, teaching, and performing dance in the Greater Seattle area, nationally, and internationally for over 30 years. An award-winning dancer, teacher, and performer, his breadth of styles include Lindy Hop, Swing, Balboa, Waltz, Blues, Ballroom, One-Step, NC2S, WCS, Salsa, Tango, Latin, & Fusion, and more.
An early pioneer in Lindy, Blues, and Fusion, Ari has also been instrumental in creating several innovative new dance styles, including "Fusion Waltz", "Fusion Swing", & "Fusion Night Club 2-Step" which he has been busy introducing in workshops throughout the country and abroad. He has traveled and taught in over 40 different countries, and is the co-founder and artistic director of "Worldwide Dance Adventures", creating innovative and memorable dance experiences for social dancers who love to travel. In addition to the above, Ari is the co-founder and director of numerous international dance camps, including "Waltz Week in Vienna", "Mexico Dance Retreat", "New Zealand Dance Adventure", "Heart Sound Fusion", "Dancing with Horses", and the "Wellness & Dance Spa Retreat" at Harrison Hot Springs (BC).
When off the dance floor, Ari enjoys kayaking, sailing, hang-gliding, travel, music, film, and poetry.
Roots Fusion: Roots Fusion hosts fusion and fusion-related dances on the Olympic Peninsula in collaboration with The Fusion Inclusion Dance Project of Port Townsend, WA. Roots Fusion is led by a team of seven fusion dancers. We seek to create safe, strongly consensual, partner dance spaces with lead and follow that are non gender-based.
