“a reassuring breath of fresh air that pulls me back to simpler times” - NPR, All Songs Considered

"Sturtz and cellist Courtlyn Carpenter deliver a heart-tugging pop-folk melody, interspersed with powerful moments of silence.” - Colorado Public Radio

Imagine sweet, yearning melodies driven by tasty banjo picking, floating on a bed of soothing cello harmonies. The acoustic quartet – Andrew Sturtz [vocals, guitar], Jim Herlihy [banjo], Courtlyn Carpenter [cello}, and Will Kuepper [bass]– falls somewhere at the intersection of folk and soul, with lead singer Andrew Sturtz’s melodic vocals soaring over the lower string instrumentals.

Sturtz is based in Boulder, CO, and has toured across the U.S. opening for groups like the Eli Young Band, Trout Steak Revival, Lillie Mae, and Smooth Hound Smith. NPR’s “All Songs Considered” described the band as “a reassuring breath of fresh air that pulls me back to simpler times”. Sturtz was last here promoting their fine debut, You’ve Done this Before. This time they are out on the road promoting their latest release, Hyacinth, which Independent Music Reviews described as “an intimate journey through emotion and reflection, with each track contributing to a bigger studio. This quite aptly describes a Sturtz performance as well.
