This effort aligns with the City’s strategic initiative to better support vulnerable populations.
 
This free, family-friendly event led by Port St. Lucie Police Department will feature information on helpful community resources, a touch-a-truck display, a K-9 bloodhound meet & greet (optional), sensory-friendly art stations and presentations from guest speakers with Project Lifesaver, AngelSense and Safe Kids Treasure Coast. Topics will include wandering prevention, water safety and other critical safety measures.
 
Date: Saturday, April 18
Time: 9 a.m. to noon
Where: Community Center, 2195 SE Airoso Blvd.
 
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn practical ways to enhance safety for individuals with autism and obtain support through a multitude of community resources. More than 30 vendors will be on-site to share life-saving information and support services, including wearable GPS tracking technologies, water safety education and specialized programs tailored to the unique needs of families with loved ones on the spectrum. Attendees can connect directly with individual and family experts.
 
In addition, the Police Department and the City’s Strategic Initiatives & Innovation Team will gather community insights and host focus groups to better understand the needs of individuals and family experts within the autism community. These efforts are part of the City’s broader commitment to using data-informed approaches and resident input to shape innovative, impactful programs.
