Join us at The Gas Lantern for our 2025 Yule Party on Saturday, December 20th!
Drop in and enjoy food, drink, music and lots more, and learn all about Mari Lwyd.
Mari Lwyd is a Welsh Christmas tradition featuring a decorated horse skull on a pole, carried by a person hidden under a sheet, who visits houses and engages in a rhyming contest with residents. The group, known as wassailers, sings rhymes to be let inside, and once inside, they are invited to share food and drink. The Mari Lwyd is thought to be a symbol of good luck and is believed to ward off evil spirits. The wassailers would traditionally carry the Mari Lwyd from house to house between Christmas Day and Twelfth Night.
Candles will be lit, and smiles will be enjoyed, along with some good food & drink. Also, the store will be open for any last minute Christmas shopping needs.
Festive dress is STRONGLY encouraged!
The gathering is free and open to the public!
