Guided Annual "Corn Moon" Full Moon Paddle

Our last full moon paddle of the year most likely!

Join us Sunday September 7th from 7:15-8:45 pm for our guided Full "Corn" Moon Paddle on the Portage River.

Where:

Portage River Paddling Company - Port Clinton location.
3134 West Harbor Rd. Port Clinton, OH 43452

We will be paddling by the light of the full moon along the banks of the Portage River.

What's Provided For Each Attendee:

~Your choice of a single kayak, double kayak, 2 man canoe, or 3 man canoe fitted with a lantern.
~A life vest
~A paddle
~A bottle of water
~Bug spray
~Glow sticks

What To Bring (optional):

~A change of clothes (remember kayaking is a wet sport)
~A towel
~Water shoes
~A flashlight
All ages are welcome. Anyone under 18 however must be accompanied by an adult.

Difficulty:

Easy.
No kayaking or paddling experience required.
We will go at a slow pace and enjoy the nighttime wildlife and the light of the Harvest Moon.

Please arrive by 6:45 pm so we can get everyone's waivers filled out and your boats ready.

A Little History On The Naming Of Moons:

The naming of moons dates back to Native American tribes and European Settlers. Moons were named to keep track of the seasons and important upcoming events.

The September full moon is usually known as the Full Corn Moon because it traditionally corresponds with the time of harvesting corn. It is also called the Barley Moon because this is the time to harvest ripened barley.
Often, the September Moon is also called the Harvest Moon, but this year the Harvest Moon occurs in October. The Harvest Moon is the Moon that falls nearest the autumnal equinox; this full Moon provides the most light at the time when it’s needed most—to complete the harvest!

Cost:

$35/ per person
$20/ Bring Your Own Kayak ($16 per person, includes a bottle of water, bug spray, glow sticks, a lantern for your boat, a safe place to park your car, and the paddle itself.) Your boat must be registered with the state of Ohio.

Refunds will not be given if it is cloudy and we do not get to see the moon. This is an outdoor experience and mother nature always wins! If inclement weather is expected and we have to postpone the event you will have a choice of getting a raincheck for the next full moon paddle or other special event, using the credit for hourly rentals and river trips, or being issued a refund.

Cancellation Policy:

If you have to cancel please do so 7 days prior to the event so we can try to book it for someone else. 3-6 days prior a 50% refund will be issued. Within 3 days no refund will be issued.
