Awaken to the New is a three-hour collaborative journey with Kovido Maddick, meditation and mindfulness teacher and Lili Eve, ceremonialist and embodiment guide.

Together, you’ll be led through a gentle yet powerful process that supports you to release the old, welcome the new, and align with what you want to call in for 2026.

This ceremony blends mindfulness, movement, ritual and sound, inviting you to land deeply in your body and open to the year ahead with presence and trust.

Across the afternoon, you’ll experience:

✨ Guided meditation + co-creation of a communal altar
A grounding practice to arrive, settle your nervous system, and set your intention for the year. You’re invited to bring a small item that symbolises what you want to carry with you into 2026—something meaningful to place on the altar we create together.

✨ Walking meditation
A spacious and embodied practice that teaches you to meet each step as a new beginning, and each breath as a reminder of presence.

✨ Kundalini kriya
A revitalising kriya designed to move stagnant energy, awaken inner fire and expand your capacity to receive what’s unfolding in the year ahead.

✨ Gong bath + deep rest
A soothing, immersive sound journey to integrate, soften and reset your system.

✨ Closing circle
A gentle moment to complete, connect and anchor what has been opened.

Taking place at a temple space, 30 minutes north of Dunedin, this gathering is for anyone wanting to begin the year with intention, inner stillness and renewed vitality. No experience necessary —simply an element of curiosity and a willingness to step forward.

About Your Facilitators:

Kovido has over 40 years’ experience in mindfulness and meditation and spent 10 years training as a Buddhist Monk, in the Thai Forest Tradition, under Ajahn Sumedho.

He has been teaching Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction programmes since 1996. He is a certified teacher and coach with Mindfulness Works whose courses he has taught for 10 years. He is co-facilitator of the Dunedin Men’s group and is a Hakomi Graduate.

Lili Eve is a kundalini guide and ceremonial facilitator devoted to helping others return to their inner wisdom through movement, breath and ritual. Her work weaves nervous system attunement, embodied awareness and sacred practice to create spaces where people feel held, softened and connected to themselves.

She is also a somatic dance facilitator and DJ, bringing these modalities into her wider offerings, and the co-founder of The Dome — a sacred space for embodied practice, sound and transformational gatherings.
