The second annual 72 Hour Film Challenge returns to Studio Bob on Thursday, July 30th at 6:00 PM. It’s free and open to the public. Indie filmmaker Mark Schwartz and Dr. Lara Starcevich from Peninsula College are coordinating the challenge in collaboration with Studio Bob at 118 E. Front Street in Port Angeles.  

So here’s how it goes! Anyone who would like to participate needs to arrive at Studio Bob for the Launch Meeting on Thursday, July 30th at 6:00pm. That’s when participants get the lowdown on what their films need to include. Three things will be announced at the meeting, that is--a prop, a line of dialogue, and a character. Once the three items are announced, participants go off and frantically make their films for 72 hours and bring them to the Screening Party on Thursday, August 6th at 5pm at Studio Bob.

Mark Schwartz is an award-winning filmmaker whose diverse experience as a producer, director, and writer ranges from indie feature films (selected for New Directors, Santa Barbara, Mill Valley Festivals), to screenplays optioned by major entertainment industry producers and studios, to social justice documentaries (selected for Sundance, Seattle, Vancouver, Toronto, London, Berlin, Chicago Festivals). Dr. Lara Starcevich has been a professor of Speech and Drama at Peninsula College since 2008. She has written and performed her own work at various festivals, including the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and the Scotopia Short Play festival in North Carolina. This fall she is directing her annual 100% Totally Improvised Musical at Peninsula College.
