The Community Arts Council of the Alberni Valley and the City of Port Alberni are excited to bring you the Harbour Quay Light-Up, Friday November 28th at the Harbour Quay, from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm. This year’s event will be bigger and brighter, with more lights, activities and of course, the lighting of a ‘forever tree’ at 5:45 pm.
The layout will be different this year as the City has planted a ‘forever tree’ at the waterfront park, replacing the usual cut tree in the Harbour Quay roundabout. This is the first year of the lighting of the ‘forever tree’, which will be used for generations to come! Everyone is welcome to start their journey to the Quay aboard the holiday train, with a special visit from Santa! After your ride, you can walk down to enjoy a delicious BBQ by V9Y Culinary, a hot chocolate bar, and family-fun activities and community groups. Then at 5:45 pm, enjoy the tree lighting and live singing by local choirs, including the ADSS band. Also new this year, a festive lit bike ride hosted by the Riders of the Alberni Valley (ROAV).
As for parking during this event, road blocks will be set up 3:30 PM day of, just before the Spirit Square. There will be plenty of free parking in the lot next to the train stations, along Argyle street, as well as beside and behind the Port Boat House. There will be a few reserved spots closest to the event for accessibility parking as well.
Come to the Quay and celebrate the magic of the season! We hope to see you there!
