These hands-on clay sessions are all about slowing down, getting messy (in the best way), and letting creativity run wild. Kids get to squish, shape, and build their own little masterpieces while enjoying a calm, supportive space that helps them feel grounded, confident, and proud of what they create.

We use beautiful Nelson clay, and children are gently introduced to both the theory and techniques of pottery in a way that feels fun, practical, and creative — learning genuine skills while exploring the magic of working with clay.

The Kapiti workshop is held in an active working pottery studio, giving kids the experience of creating in a space where pottery is made and practiced every day. This includes a chance to explore wheel throwing and experience how pottery is shaped on the wheel.

There’s something really special about clay — it’s grounding, expressive, and deeply satisfying to transform a simple lump into something meaningful with your own hands.
