CRT Game On Wales is delighted to invite your school to take part in the CRT Game On Girls Secondary School Football Festival, taking place on Tuesday 2nd June 2026 at the University of South Wales Indoor Sports Park.

With the number of registered female football players at an all-time high, we are excited to deliver this introductory secondary school festival, designed to help girls experience football in a safe, fun and supportive environment.

Parents and teachers consistently tell us that girls love attending our CRT Game On Girls festivals because they are enjoyable, relaxed, and allow participants to explore football alongside friends while developing new skills.

Festival Aims

This annual festival aims to:

Encourage girls in Years 7 & 8 to be active, supporting the health and wellbeing of young people living in former coal mining towns and villages.
Support the Football Association of Wales Grassroots Strategy 2024–2030, helping to reduce the number of young people leaving football in and out of school between the ages of 12–17. The Coalfields Regeneration Trust (CRT Game On Wales) is an Affiliate Partner of the Football Association of Wales.
Provide many girls with their first taste of football, and for some, a pathway into club football or local informal football opportunities designed specifically for girls.
Champion and strengthen our coalfield communities through football, hosted at one of the best indoor football facilities in the UK.
Festival Information

Teams: Minimum of 5 players, maximum of 8 players
Eligibility: Girls only – Years 7 & 8
Entries: Maximum of 2 teams per school
Cost: Free entry
Registration: 9:30am
Festival Time: 10:00am – 2:00pm
All CRT Game On Wales coaches and volunteers are DBS-checked

Entry deadline: Friday 22nd May 2026

Tennis Workshop & Taster Sessions 

We will be delivering a dynamic, hands-on workshop designed to bring tennis to life in schools. We’re delighted to be working in partnership with Tennis Wales and the LTA to grow the game through the LTA Youth Schools programme — helping more children discover the enjoyment, skills, and confidence that tennis can offer. Across Wales, park tennis courts that had fallen into disrepair are being transformed through a major renovation programme delivered by the LTA, supported by a £30 million investment from the UK Government and the LTA Tennis Foundation — creating welcoming, high-quality spaces for communities to play. This summer, we’re also extending tennis into more coalfield communities, opening the door for young people who may never have had the opportunity to pick up a racket — or who never felt the sport was for them — to get involved, get active, and give it a try.
