On Monday 2nd March we have a walk from Pontypool park to the Folly Tower an ancient vantage point with great views. 

It’s just over 3.5 miles. First of all we climb to the Shell Grotto. It’s an 18th century stone built cylindrical slate building decorated with shells and animal bones on the interior. We then walk a mile to the Folly Tower which is an octagonal Tower again with amazing views with Pontypool to the west and rural Monmouthshire to the east. There is undulating terrain for the remainder of the walk. There are cattle around Folly Tower so dogs must be kept on leads. 

This walk is a level 6-7 on our Marauders walk scale. We can park just next to Pontypool Leisure Centre for 12.45 and we walk promptly at 1.
