We invite you to join an international artistic residency with no participation fee, during which we will create a public Vigil to be held on July 3rd at Villa Crastan, Pontedera.


In a time of polarization and constant pressure, we seek spaces of reciprocal care — practices of listening, presence, and encounter without urgency. Our work grows from an ongoing research into singing, the living word, silence, and listening, together with a form of improvisation that arises from care and relation rather than imposition.


This residency is grounded in a question: what happens when silence and listening are understood as the very condition of action? In our practice, moments of possibility often emerge when something stops, waits, and attends. We are looking to cultivate this quality as a craft, a shared practice, and something that can be offered.


The call is open to artists, performers, musicians, and researchers working with voice, theatre, and interdisciplinary practices, whether professionals or amateurs, who are interested in participatory processes and engaging with a specific territory.


During the residency, we will create a performative Vigil: a space where people can come and go, listen, sing, or simply be present. Songs, fragments of text, silence, and actions will compose an environment rather than a fixed performance — a place to dwell, where time can unfold as a field of attention.


The work will develop through territorial immersion, rehearsals, walks, and shared creation. We will collaborate with local inhabitants of all ages and enter into dialogue with communities in the area. Songs, poetic texts, silent actions, and improvisation will become part of the Vigil, where different languages and cultural backgrounds intertwine with local voices.


The residency is based in Pontedera, at our headquarters, the Ex-Lavatoi. Each week, we will also activate public interventions in different parts of the city, creating moments of encounter, listening, and presence within the urban fabric.


You can join the residency for the full 4 weeks or for the last 3, 2, or 1 week.


Participation is free; participants cover their own travel, accommodation, and food.
