(a tax-exempt charity) and it focuses on running community meal packing events that provide nutritious food for the hungry.This is a two day event with Saturday being mostly setup of the gym and preparation work including the labeling of almost 17,000 small food bags and prefilling them with cheese packets. (We may be able to do some foood packaging near the end of the day.) On Sunday, the work is mostly actual food packaging and then tear-down and cleanup of the gym. No special skills needed. Each job is simple, and we will train you. Everyone can participate, according to their capabilities - even accompanied young children. NOTE volunteers under the age of 18 (unless accompanied by parent or guardian) MUST have parent or guardian signature on their ticket as evidence of permission to participate.This year's event is the continuation of highly successful events for Grains of Hope and our volunteers. Since inception we have already packaged over 2,200,000 meals for the hungry. A remarkable achievement for a grassroots initiative started about a decade ago! We are designing this event to provide some flexibility for those who attend while still attempting provide for the physical safety and mental comfort of those with heightened concerns – especially those with young children. If you have health concerns we encourage the proper wearing of protective masks while on the premises. We will not be offering a children’s arts and crafts station at this year’s event.
