ABOUT THE ARTIST
New York City-based pianist Eunbi Kim transports audiences through engaging, though-provoking concert programs and interdisciplinary performances. This past season, Eunbi focused on her keen interest in contemporary classical music with her solo program “re: last night,” which included a commissioned work by eminent composer Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR) for piano and recorded voices. The Korean Consulate sponsored the concert, which gave its world-premiere at The Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage and the NYC premiere at The Korean Cultural Service NY with subsequent performances at Chicago's PianoForte Foundation and Bennington College. 

She's previously created, produced, and performed in “Murakami Music,” a genre-defying performance inspired by the characters and musical references in internationally acclaimed writer Haruki Murakami’s novels. It had a sold-out premiere at Symphony Space, which was broadcast on NHK (Japan’s national public broadcasting), and has also enjoyed performances in venues such as Texas Asia Society and Georgetown University. Eunbi is regarded as one of the foremost experts on Murakami and has been invited to speak by various media outlets and organizations, and has a forthcoming paper to be published by Bloomsbury UK on the use of music in Murakami’s works. 

Eunbi has been teaching private piano for the past ten years. She is on adjunct faculty at Concordia College where she also coaches chamber music groups and teaches music theory, maintains a private teaching studio, Silver Bee Studio, in Manhattan, and also serves on the executive board of The Piano Teachers Congress of New York. 

Ms. Kim graduated with her Master’s degree at Manhattan School of Music where she also held a fellowship at The Center for Music Entrepreneurship under the direction of Angela Myles Beeching (author of "Beyond Talent") and Casey Molino Dunn.  Eunbi was one of 50 artists accepted into the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) Artist as Entrepreneur Program and was a 2012-14 Artist-in-Residence at the cell theatre. She has served as panelist and speaker on music entrepreneurship topics for various universities and national arts organizations, such as Chamber Music America, Texas Southern University, and The Catholic University of America. 

Eunbi is currently touring her solo program “re: last night,” has plans to perform “Murakami Music” in South Korea, and will release a first commercial recording of Fred Hersch’s solo piano music.
