March Paint n Sip

Welcome to the March Paint and Sip! This month we are getting back to basics with a follow-along format. We will be recreating "The White Dog" by Marc Franz.

Franz Marc (1880–1916) was a founding member of the German Expressionist group Der Blaue Reiter (The Blue Rider). He believed animals represented a purer, more spiritual side of life than humans, and he used bold, symbolic color to express emotion rather than realism. Many of his best-known works feature horses, deer, and dogs rendered in powerful, simplified shapes.

Our Painting, The White Dog (1911) shows a seated white dog looking out over a landscape. The land itself is rendered with bold expressive color and simple sweeping arch motions.

Perfect blend of simplicity and complexity!

We will be painting with acrylic on 11x14 canvas, and Alix will lead you through the entire image from start to finish.

And don't forget cocktails! Cocktail of the evening will be a white wine citrus punch! White wine and orange liqueur with a medley of fresh cut fruits. Sweet, light, and a bit bubbly!
