- **Event Description**: Join the Poland Historical Society on Sunday, August 23, 2026 at 12:30pm as we visit the Presidential Inn, on the grounds of the Poland Spring Resort.  Laura Brown , Director of Operations at Poland Spring Preservation Society will lead a tour of this historic hotel.  Built in 1913 as the Riccar Inn, it was the last hotel building constructed here by Hiram Ricker & Sons. The construction was managed by Poland resident, Forrest Walker (1857-1932).  Why Riccar and not Ricker ? When did it become the Presidential Inn ? What does WMTW stand for and who was Jack Paar ?  We look forward to seeing you at 41 Ricker Road, Poland Spring. For more information, call 998-5268. 

Please park adjacent to the building in the gravel lot. Do not park on Ricker Road.
