The documentary follows former U.S. Secretary of Labor Robert Reich as he teaches his final semester at University of California, Berkeley after a 40-year career. Centered on his renowned “Wealth and Poverty” course, the film explores the rise of economic inequality since the 1970s and the profound risks it poses to democracy, while also capturing Reich’s deeply personal reflections on aging, legacy, and the meaning of a life devoted to public service and education.
Directed by Elliot Kirschner, the documentary offers an intimate portrait of a beloved teacher at a pivotal moment, culminating in an emotional final lecture delivered to a packed hall of students, where Reich shares both urgent warnings about the nation’s future and a heartfelt farewell.
