EVENT DESCRIPTION:
We are asking our community to come together to honor a true American hero.

Mr. Richard “Ritchie” Cubetus proudly served our nation as a United States Army Soldier during the Vietnam War. He earned a Bronze Star for valor during the Battle of Khe Sanh — one of the most significant and brutal battles of that war.

Ritchie passed away last week at the Veterans Home in Chelsea. He has no remaining family. Before his passing, he expressed one simple and heartfelt wish: to be laid to rest at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. That wish will be honored this Thursday.

No veteran who served this country — especially one who earned the Bronze Star in combat — should ever be buried alone.

We encourage any veterans, first responders, neighbors, and residents who are able to attend to please join us in standing silently, respectfully, and proudly as we lay this American soldier to rest with the dignity he earned.
