Until very recently the uncensored version of this was nearly impossible to view. Thanks to the fine folks at Fun City Editions it’s been fully restored and looks better than ever. 

Punk/New Wave spawned out of urban bleakness. London and New York were broke and they looked it. Welfare lines, union strikes, buildings turned to rubble and out of that grew Punk and Hip hop. 

Like Smithereens did with New York Breaking Glass really showcases London of that period with its A Star is Born type of story that brings punk out of the pubs and puts New Wave in the mainstream.
